Penne alla vodka is the classic vodka sauce dish, made with cream, tomatoes and penne pasta. Now, the Italians weren't exactly known for cooking with hard liquor, and the Russians didn't belly up to bowls of tomatoes and pasta too often. So it should be no surprise that this sauce is an American invention. Like the light bulb. Or the roller skate. Only much, much more delicious.
